Harford (Susqehanna County)
The Harford Academy closed in 1865, and it was immediately turned into a Pennsylvania Soldiers Orphan School.
The orphan school was run to the highest level of Christian principles and learning.
Franklin Hall (the only remaining building today) contained the dining hall and the boy's dormitory upstairs.
The Harford Soldier's Orphan School educated children until 1902, maintaining a 300 acre self-sufficient farm.
