Welcome to the flagship project of Historic Archives!

The Pennsylvania Soldiers' Orphan Schools system was a patriotic undertaking to take care of the children of its veterans, starting in 1864 and continued until 2009.

These schools provided a home and a foundation for thousands of children.

We are dedicated to preserving their stories, connecting their descendants, and honoring the commitment made by the Commonwealth.
